AETV Power

Aurora Energy (Tamar Valley) Pty Ltd (trading as AETV Power), a wholly owned subsidiary of Aurora Energy, is the owner and operator of the Tamar Valley Power Station, five kilometres south of George Town in Tasmania. The gas-fired power station is capable of producing 390 MW of electricity,  Its 210 MW Mitsubishi combined cycle turbine is the single largest generating plant in Tasmania. The plant was opened in October 2009 and employs about 30 people.

CS Energy

CS Energy is a Queensland Government-owned electricity generator with more than 640 employees and a generation capacity of more than 4,000 MW across five power station sites.  CS Energy supplies more than a third of Queensland’s electricity requirement, using a fuel mix of natural gas, black coal, coal seam methane and landfill gas.

CS Energy's portfolio includes Callide Power Station near Biloela in Central Queensland, Kogan Creek Power Station near Chinchilla in South West Queensland and the Wivenhoe hydroelectric plant.

CS Energy is playing a leading role in the commercialisation of large scale cleaner, low emission and renewable generation technology.  The company's projects include the Callide Oxyfuel Project aims to demonstrate how carbon capture and storage technology can be applied to an existing coal-fired power station to produce near zero emissions. The project is a joint venture with the Australian Coal Association, Xstrata Coal, Schlumberger, and Japanese participants JPower, Mitsui and IHI Corporation and has received financial support from the Australian, Japanese and Queensland governments.

Delta Electricity

Delta Electricity is Australia’s largest electricity generator with over 5,000 MW of installed capacity.  Delta generates electricity from many sources including coal, gas, hydro and biomass. Most of its generation occurs at five power stations located in regional NSW  -  Mt Piper and Wallerawang near Lithgow and Vales Point, Munmorah and Colongra on the NSW Central Coast.

Delta is committed to renewable and low emission energy generation, sustainable water use and minimising the environmental and community impact of its operations. Sustainability initiatives include research into carbon capture with CSIRO, trials of bio-energy crops to generate renewable electricity and sponsorship of the Chair of Sustainable Energy Development at the University of Sydney.

Energy Developments

Energy Developments is an international provider of renewable energy and low greenhouse gas emission energy.  The company owns and operates a diverse international portfolio of power stations in Australia, the United States and Europe with a total capacity of about 605 MW from various fuel sources including landfill gas, waste coal mine gas, natural gas and liquefied natural gas.  Energy Developments employ 350 employees worldwide.

In the year ended 30 June 2010, in its worldwide operations, the Company produced approximately 3.2 million MWh of clean energy, and abated and avoided greenhouse gases estimated at 10.6 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent, akin to removing 2.5 million cars from the road.

Eraring 

Eraring Energy is a NSW government owned corporation operating 10 power stations with a combined capacity of more than 3,000 MW.

Eraring's assets include coal-fired generation, hydroelectric and wind power stations.  The corporation's main asset is the Eraring power station near Lake Macquarie.  In 1998, at Crookwell, Eraring built the first wind farm to be connected to the electricity grid.

ERM Power Limited

ERM Power (ASX code: EPW) is an energy company which operates electricity sales, generation and gas exploration businesses in Australia. Founded in 1980 as a specialist energy advisory firm, it grew through deregulation and privatisation to become one of Australia’s largest private sector energy companies before listing on the Australian Securities Exchange on 10 December 2010.

ERM Power sells electricity to commercial and industrial customers across Australia, owns 442 megawatts (equity interests) and operates 982 MW of low emission gas-fired generation assets, and has a successful gas exploration business with interests in more than 10,000 kms2 of acreage in Western Australia.

Hydro Tasmania

Hydro Tasmania is Australia’s largest producer of renewable energy. For almost a century Hydro Tasmania has harnessed the natural power of water to generate energy for the state of Tasmania and now into the National Electricity Market.  Their integrated hydro-electric scheme is made up of 30 power stations, numerous lakes and over 50 large dams with an installed generating capacity of 2,281 MW, generating a total of 8,184 GWh in the 2010 financial year.  Hydro Tasmania exports clean energy into the national market via the undersea Basslink cable and owns Momentum - the Victorian specialist electricity retailer and share their expertise through their consulting arm Entura.  They are also partners in wind farm developer Roaring 40s, a 50-50 joint venture with CLP Group.

The Hydro Tasmania group currently employs more than 900 people.

Macquarie Generation

Macquarie Generation is a NSW State Owned Corporation established in 1996. Macquarie Generation owns and operates black coal-fired Liddell and Bayswater Power Stations in the Upper Hunter Valley, with a corporate office in Newcastle.

Each year the Corporation produces 14 per cent of the electricity consumed by the National Electricity Market,  equivalent to 40 per cent of the electricity needed by the people of New South Wales.

With a total capacity of 4,640 MW, and employing over 600 people, Macquarie Generation is Australia's second largest electricity generator.

Snowy Hydro

Snowy Hydro Limited is a leading supplier of financial hedge and renewable energy products in the National Electricity Market. The business owns and operates the 3,800 MW Snowy Mountains hydro-electric Scheme, the 300 MW Valley Power and the 320 MW Laverton North gas-fired power stations both located in Victoria.

Snowy Hydro employs more than 750 staff and generates on average about 4,500 GWh per year.. Snowy Hydro is also the parent company of Red Energy, an electricity and gas retailer selling direct to over 250,000 consumers in Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales.

Stanwell Corporation

Stanwell Corporation is a Queensland Government owned corporation operating a diverse generation portfolio of gas, hydroelectric and coal-fired generation:  Stanwell Power Station, Tarong Power Station, Tarong North Power Station, Mica Creek Power Station, Swanbank B, Swanbank E, Mackay Gas Turbine, Barron Gorge, Kareeya, Koombooloomba and Wivenhoe hydros.

Stanwell's assets have a capacity of 4,478 MW and employs 1,100 people.

Stanwell is pursuing opportunities in cleaner coal generation plants, as well as investigating gas and hydro investment options.

Verve Energy

Verve Energy is the largest electricity producer / generator in Western Australia. With 2,967 MW of installed generating capacity, Verve Energy produces annually about 9,000 GWh from its extensive and diverse portfolio of power stations and renewable energy systems.

Energy security is enhanced by Verve Energy’s ability to burn coal, gas and liquid fuels at its power stations, as well as a focus on efficient and reliable operations. 

Renewable energy credentials include a 21 MW wind farm at Albany on the south coast and several wind diesel systems in remote locations.  Verve Energy will build Australia’s biggest solar photovoltaic farm, a 10 MW facility in WA’s Midwest.
